Multiple Currencies

Currency refers to the money or medium of exchange used in a country, such as the U.S. Dollar, British Pound Sterling, or European Euro. Order Management supports 128 currencies for processing orders, payments, invoices, item pricing, reports, email, and collections. You can configure and enable multiple currencies in Order Management.

The selected base locale determines the currency that appears in Customer Service Center, Fulfillment Center, and Retail Center. For example, if the base locale is French - France, then the currency is EUR.

The base currency, defined in the Administration module, reflects the system currency. The system uses it to calculate total currencies (of multiple orders) in the Queues summary totals. See Configuring Base Locale.

Following are some considerations.

Note: If an Order Management user logs into Order Management with a user profile that uses a different locale, the currency for that locale is used.

Currency Summary Totals

In Order Management: Administration > Queues, the summary totals display each order's currency in the base system currency, converted via the exchange rate lookup table. This lookup table is imported into B2C Commerce daily. All converted order currencies are summed together and shown as a single amount in the base system currency. For example, an Order Management system has the base system currency set to U.S. Dollars (USD).
  1. The first order received in Order Management used Euros as the currency. The Euros in that order are converted to USD using the current exchange rate. The converted USD amount is $20.00.
  2. A second order received in Order Management used U.S.Dollars as the currency. The U.S. Dollars in that order remain in USD currency. The USD amount is $30.00.
  3. A third order received in Order Management used Yen as the currency. The Yen in that order is converted to USD using the current exchange rate. The converted USD amount is $40.00.
  4. The currency amounts are now all in USD, are summed up together, and shown as a summary total of $90.00.
Note: The base system currency appears for summary totals even if an Order Management user logs into Order Management using a user profile for a different locale.

Currency Display Format

The following currency information appears on Order Management pages where currency appears.

Currency information Description
display format: thousands separator

A currency's thousands separator can be either a "," or "."

The United Kingdom and the United States use a comma to separate groups of thousands, while many other countries use a period. For example, 1,000.00 for U.S. Dollars or 1.000,00 in Germany's Euros.

Some countries, such as France, use a thin space to separate thousand groups. The currency's thousands separator reflects the Order Management user's locale.

display format: decimal separator

A currency's decimal separator reflects the fractional part of a decimal number (see the following table). Decimal point and decimal comma are common names for the decimal separator.

The United Kingdom and the United States use a period to indicate the decimal place, while many other countries use a comma.

Some countries, such as China, don't use a decimal separator. For example, 1,000 for China's Yuan (no decimal separator) or 1,000.00 for U.S. Dollars (two-digit decimal separator reflects cents).

amount (value) Based on the currency specified in the customer 's order.
currency code

Based on the currency specified in the customer 's order. This code is the currency indicator on Order Management pages.

For example, on the Order detail page, the currency code appears at the top of the page and anywhere a currency amount, subtotal, or total appears.

Another example is when receiving returns in Fulfillment Center, the currency code EUR, appears beside the item price.

Note: In all Order Management modules, a Currency column on summary listings shows the currency codes for elements such as orders invoices and items.
