Configuring the Amazon Connector

This topic explains the setup and configuration of the Amazon Connector.

Note: You must contact Retail Practice to provision the Amazon Provider for your Order Management implementation.

To configure the Amazon Connector, follow these steps, as described below:

  1. Create an Amazon Seller Account.
  2. Create an Amazon Catalog in Order Management.
  3. Configure the Settings in the Amazon Provider.
  4. Create an AmazonItem Attribute in Order Management and Set the Inventory Reserve Level On It.

Creating an Amazon Seller Account

Create an Amazon Seller account with Amazon. Request that the following features be enabled:

You can configure the Settlement Report schedule as needed. Typically, a report is generated 7-14 days after the original transaction date.

Creating an Amazon Catalog

You must create a Catalog in Order Management to contain the Items that will be sold via Amazon. Follow these steps:

  1. On the Settings accordion menu, select Preferences.
  2. On the General tab, select Catalogs.
  3. In the text field for creating a new Catalog, enter Amazon, then click Add.
  4. Click the -NA- link in the Label field for the new Catalog. This shows the Catalog details below the list of Catalogs.
    Note: "Amazon" appears in the Code field of the new Catalog. By default, the list of Catalogs is alphabetical by Code.
  5. Enter a Label, Short Label, and name for the Catalog. Typically, these are all "Amazon."
  6. Enter contact information in the identification fields as desired.
  7. Click Update.

Configuring the Amazon Provider

The Amazon Provider is described in Amazon Provider Settings.

Creating an AmazonItem Attribute

You must create an AmazonItem Attribute in Order Management to assign to the Items that are sold via Amazon. Follow these steps:

  1. On the Settings accordion menu, select Attributes.
  2. If there is no Amazon group in the Attribute hierarchy, create one as follows:
    1. In the text field above the Attribute hierarchy, enter Amazon.
    2. Select Group from the drop-down list next to the text field.
    3. Click Add.
  3. Select the Amazon group in the Attribute hierarchy.
  4. In the text field above the Attribute hierarchy, enter AmazonItem.
  5. Select Attribute from the drop-down list next to the text field.
  6. Click Add. The new Attribute appears in the hierarchy in the Amazon group.
  7. Select the AmazonItem Attribute. The Attribute details appear on the right side of the page.
  8. Verify that the Group is Amazon.
  9. In the Id field, type AmazonItem.
  10. Optionally, enter the following text in the Description field:

    This attribute is used by the automated Amazon process to identify the Items to send to Amazon. Set the value to "Yes" to mark this Item for sale via Amazon. (Note: Inventory-level calculations are controlled by the Tag. See the documentation for more detail.)

  11. Set the Inventory Reserve Level and (optionally) Site by making an entry in the Tag field in one of the following formats:
    • value:calculation_ID
    • value:calculation_ID:site_code
    The following table describes the available calculations:
    Calculation Calculation ID Description
    None 0 Inventory available for Amazon is simply the Available inventory in Order Management. For this calculation, leave the Tag field empty.
    Fixed 1 Use a fixed value for available Amazon inventory. For example, 5:1 means always list up to 5.
    Adjusted Negative Percentage 2 Inventory available for Amazon is calculated as Available - (Available * (value/100) ). For example, 5:2:WHSE1 means list 5% fewer than the currently Available inventory at the WHSE1 Site (equivalent to 95% of Available inventory).
    Adjusted Negative Fixed 3 Inventory available for Amazon is calculated as Available - (value). For example, 5:3:WHSE1 means list five fewer than the currently Available inventory at the WHSE1 Site.
    Percent 6 Inventory available for Amazon is calculated as Available * (value/100). For example, 80:2 means list 80% of Available inventory.
  12. Check the Visible box.
  13. In the Configuration section, select Choice Value from the first drop-down list and Dropdown List from the second drop-down list.
  14. Click Update. The Choice Values panel appears at the bottom of the Attribute details.
  15. Create the choice values in the below table by following these steps for each value:
    1. In the text box on the right side of the Choice Values panel, enter the Label.
    2. Click Add. The new value appears in the list.
    3. Click the Label of the value to open the Edit Value Information dialog.
    4. Enter the Code and Description values.
    5. Click Update.
    Label Code Description
    Manual MANUAL Indicates that the Item was manually loaded into Amazon Seller Central.
    Update UPDATE Marks the Item to be re-loaded into Amazon Seller Central with the latest product information.
    No 0 The Item won't be loaded into Amazon Seller Central.
    Yes 1 Marks the Item to be loaded into Amazon Seller Central by the automated process.
  16. Click Update.
