Managing and Editing Existing Auctions in the Auction Manager

The Auction Manager is used to find and work with existing auctions.

Note: If eBay returns an error, it can be found in the System Events tab of the Auction Details dialog. These errors might contain useful troubleshooting information.

To edit an existing auction in the Auction Manager, do the following:

  1. Search for the auction as described in Searching for Auctions.
  2. Click the Auction ID to open the Item Auction Information dialog.
  3. The Item Auction Information dialog includes the following sections:
    • General Auction Information: The following read-only information appears in bars at the top of the dialog:
      • << Back to Item button (navigates to the Item Details dialog)
      • Item Name
      • Item Code
      • Auction Type (Auction, Store, FixedPrice)
      • Catalog drop-down
      • Type drop-down
    • Basic eBay Info: The fields in this section can be edited:
      • Length: The length of the auction can be set using this drop-down list. The available choices depend on the auction type.
      • Quantity: The number of Items available in the listing.
      • Starting Price: (Regular auctions only) The starting minimum bid. The default value is 0.00.
      • Reserve Price: (Regular auctions only) The minimum reserve bid price. By default, there is no reserve price.
      • Purchase Price: (FixedPrice and Store auctions only)
      • Launch Date:
      • Launch Option: Select Normal Batching or Priority from the drop-down list. The default is Normal Batching.
      • Preview Template: Clicking this button shows a preview of the auction listing as it will appear on the auction site, including the html used to generate it. This preview uses the Auction Layout template. For information on defining Templates, see Template Manager.
      • Update: Click this button to save any changes made to fields in this section or the eBay Attributes section (see below).
      • Send to Auction: (Only appears if the auction has not been sent to eBay) Click this button to insert the auction into the export queue to be sent to eBay. The auction export queue is processed every 30 minutes.
    • eBay Attributes: This section shows a list of eBay attributes. You can set each to Yes, No, or Default. These attributes include the following:
      • Gallery Image
      • Gallery Featured
      • Bold Title
      • Highlight
      • Featured Plus!
      • Home Page Featured
    • Auction History: This section lists all auctions for the Item associated with the current auction. Click the auction type to open the Item Auction Details dialog for that auction, or the Auction Code to open the actual auction page on the auction site. An auction that isn't yet closed will include a Cancel button; click it to cancel that auction. The following functions are also available here:
      • Clear Relists: Click this button to disassociate existing auctions with future auctions for the Item. Note that clearing relists might reduce the site ranking of auctions for this Item.
      • Scan Transactions: Click this button to force a check for open orders on the auction listing. Any open orders are imported immediately. Normally, open orders are imported when the automated order import process runs.
      • Refresh Auction: Click this button to refresh the auction listing on the auction site. The listing immediately reflects any changes that have been made to the auction.
      • Refresh Essentials: Click this button to refresh only changes in Attributes on the auction listing on the auction site.
      • Cancel: (Only auctions that have not yet closed) Click this button to cancel the auction.
      • Delete: (Only auctions that have not yet been sent to eBay) Click this button to delete the auction without sending it to eBay.
    • Auction Detail: This section includes the following tabs:
      • Linked Orders: Any Orders related to the current auction are listed here.
      • Activity: Any Activities recorded on the current auction are listed here. Click Add to open the Activity dialog and add a new Activity to the auction.
      • Emails: Any emails related to the current auction are listed here. Click New to open the Compose Email dialog and send an email related to the auction.
      • System Events: Any system events recorded on the current auction are listed here. This includes any errors that might have been returned by eBay.
