Imaging

The Imaging setting configures the maximum size in pixels for Small (thumbnail), Medium, and Large (Blow-up) Images. Order Management automatically resamples (resize) images to reduce them to the specified sizes. The Image Lock drop-down defines whether the constraint applies to height, width, or both (Auto). Note that Order Management won't enlarge images that are smaller than the defined constraints.

When you upload an image to Order Management (for a product description), the system automatically generates three resized versions: Full, Medium, and Thumb. Order Management automatically resamples the images to reduce them to the specified pixel sizes. These settings affect all images in the system.

To set the size of Images, follow these steps:

  1. In the Settings accordion menu, select Preferences.
  2. Click the General tab.
  3. Click Imaging. The Imaging Resizing page appears.
  4. Enter the pixel size and select the Image lock value for a Full Image.
  5. Repeat step 4 for a Medium Image and a Thumb Image.
  6. Click Update.

The following table describes the parameter fields and buttons on the Image Resizing page.

Fields and Buttons Description
Size field The size in pixels for a Full Image, Med Image, and Thumb Image.

For example,

  • Full Image size = 700 pixels
  • Medium Image size = 350 pixels
  • Thumb Image size = 175 pixels
Image Lock drop-down A drop-down list of Image Lock types that define whether the constraint applies to height, width, or both (Auto)
  • Auto: The Image’s longest dimension is set to the defined size, with the other dimension rescaled to maintain the original Image’s aspect ratio.
  • Vertical: The Image’s height is set to the defined size, with its width rescaled to maintain the original Image’s aspect ratio.
  • Horizontal: The Image’s width is set to the defined size, with its height rescaled to maintain the original Image’s aspect ratio.

For example,

  • Full Image size = Auto
  • Medium Image size = Auto
  • Thumb Image size = Auto
