Configuring Providers

Order Management organizes configuration parameters and settings into logical sets called providers , which are related to particular business processes or functions.

Each provider contains many settings. Some provider settings show a group name related to their function (for example, System or Print). The group name is for display only.

Some settings only appear in a provider at a certain level in the item inheritance hierarchy. For example, the Provider XML setting in the Demandware provider only appears at the item level. When editing settings of the Demandware provider at the company level, the Provider XML setting isn't visible and isn't included in the settings drop-down.

Some settings can't be edited and are included in a provider for display purposes only.

A custom profile enables you to create a definition for a provider, and then copy the definition to multiple versions of the provider.

To configure a provider:
1. In Order Management Administration: click Settings > Providers.
  Setting group names appear as headers in the drop-down list, with each setting appearing beneath its associated group name (if any). Groups can't be selected.
2. Select a provider.
3. Select the company, catalog, or site level to which you want to apply the provider profile. (Company level is the default.)
4. In the Object Configuration window, select a setting from the drop-down to make it available. (Currently unavailable settings appear in the drop-down.)
  Not all settings in a provider are available by default. Settings that are mandatory are always available.
5. Click the Add Individual Setting button.
  The setting appears in the Object Configuration window.
6. To delete a setting from the window, click the trash can icon beside a setting in the list to remove it. Mandatory settings can't be removed.
  The deleted setting appears in the drop-down list.
To create a custom profile:
1. In Order Management Administration: click Settings > Provider Manager.
2. Select a provider.
3. Enter a name for the profile in the text field and click Add Custom Profile.
4. Select that profile instead of one of the Inheritance Hierarchy levels.
5. Define the provider and save it.
6. For company, catalog, or site level objects, select the object to which you want to apply the provider profile to open the Object Configuration window.
7. For an object at a lower level, open the details window and click the provider icon to open the Object Configuration window.
8. Assign the profile to the object by selecting it from the Profile drop-down at the top of the window and clicking Update.
